Inovația mult așteptată: VEZI ce ar putea prelungi autonomia telefonului la 7 zile
Samsung şi IBM lucrează la o nouă arthitectiră a cipurilor care ar putea duce fie o performanţă dublă, fie un consum de energie mai mic cu 85%, scrie The Verge.
Este vorba de designul VTFET (Vertical Transport Field Effect Transistors), care va lua locul modului în care cipurile sunt dezvoltate în prezent.
Pe scurt, pentru a face loc mai multor tranzistorii vor fi puși vertical, unele peste altele, în loc să fie montate orizontal, unele lângă altele. Prin urmare, circulaţia curentului va fi şi ea verticală.
De ce această soluție și de ce este importantă inovația? Să explicăm contextul: Indiferent de brand, autonomia unui smartphone, în general, nu depășește o zi. IBM are un avantaj în condițiile în care și-a prezentat deja primul cip de 2 nanometri la începutul acestui an, care urmează o cale diferită pentru a înghesui mai mulți tranzistori prin creșterea cantității care poate fi încadrată pe un cip folosind designul FinFET existent.
În orice variantă, va mai dura ceva până când vom vedea cipuri bazate pe cea mai recentă tehnologie IBM și Samsung din lume.
